Processing of parts
First stage of the restoration, we dismantle large parts of the aircraft (wings, engine, control surfaces, ...) and we store them.
We must unfasten the fuselage, the wings and the control surfaces, remove the seats and the upholstery, remove the canopies while retaining all that can be reused.
Processing of parts:
All parts are sanded to bare the material.
Search for cracks by bleeding. A penetrant of red color is applied and then allowed to dry. A white developer is then used which reveals the cracks in red on the cracked parts.
Following the analysis, welds can be applied to the structural parts, chassis or legs of the train.
On a surface such as a tole, a hole can be made to stop a small crack or to make a riveted aluminum patch.
Then. an insulating layer of zinc chromate is applied to protect against corrosion and other chemical reactions.
Before applying the paint, we break the chromate gloss and let ourselves go to our favorite colors.
The structural parts can then be reassembled.
Re-interlining requires special training. In the same way, the restoration of the woodwork of the wings is carried out according to a specific protocol according to the parts to be pasted.
